I have a pond in our back yard. I know the trendy term is "water feature" but that just doesn't fit the tiny two foot by four foot vaguely peanut-shaped depression surrounded by bits of leftover sandstone and overgrown by ivy that houses Ethel from April through October. It used to be home to Ethel and Lucy, but this past winter, Lucy went to her maker (or as we like to say "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" with apologies to the Beatles). At any rate, Ethel needed a new friend or two. Ethel is an ordinary goldfish. She's now about 6 years old and maybe 7 inches long. I felt obligated to get a couple of little guys to add to the pond this year because I figured they could tag-team Ethel if she got snippy about the new arrivals. Walmart provided us (for the low price of $1.88 each) Spot, Inky, Midnight and Sunny. Like any proud parent, I have pictures:
