Archaeologists have discovered on the Syrian/Iraqi border, that the ancient city of Hamoukar was destroyed in a siege over 5000 years ago. This was followed by about 5000 more years of war --give or take. No other spot on the globe has suffered more at the hands of invaders from anywhere. Is it any wonder they are bitter and suspicious? Or maybe it's something in the water... .
