Alito me on

Let's face it, unless we suddenly discover that Sammy's ruling on strip-searches for minors is based on personal preferences, this guy is gonna get in.
Setting aside the disgust I have at the thought that yet another white male is being given one of the most powerful positions in this country, I can't get past the smug contempt that seems to ooze from his responses to the Senate during the hearings. Admittedly, I have not seen them, but have read the transcripts. He comes across as almost patronizing. (Although, we are dealing with Senators, and they, understandably, are easy to speak down to.)
And what kind of asses really think this guy's not a threat to a woman's right to choose? He's been dancing around it since his name was announced. For all we know he's got the CEO at Vanguard set up to bring a case next year that will establish that women's bodies are not "private" but actually belong to the federal government. Wait, make that the state government.
We knew the 2004 election was about the Supreme Court. Now our chickens have come home to roost.

Update (1/12/06): It seems I spoke too soon. Last night the Senators made Mrs. Alito cry. For shame.
