What's in a word?

Have you noticed that neither soldiers, nor men, nor Americans, nor human beings are being killed in Iraq? Nope. TROOPS are being killed in Iraq. Troops. In fact, according to headlines at CNN, Yahoo, ABCNEWS, and the NY Times to name just a few, no people at all are dying in Iraq. Only troops. I know I'm being pedantic, but I believe that continuous use of the word troops has innoculated us to the reality of this war.
