It recently occurred to me that our (as a nation) dependence on oil is a lot like an addict's dependence on drugs. Our pusher --big oil and car companies-- has convinced us that we need it. The use of it exacerbates the need. We need more. We are willing to pay higher and higher prices for it. We are willing to go into debt to satisfy our cravings for it. We are hooked.
I felt so bad about this that I went out and got drunk.
