Christmas gifts

Today our church puts on its annual "Alternative Holiday Market." No. It's not filled with homemade crafts lovingly glued and/or crocheted by elderly church ladies. It's an opportunity to "buy" donations to worthy charities to give as gifts in place of yet another pair of slippers. About 16 charities take part including a no-kill animal shelter, a charity for medical needs in Africa, one for local homeless families and, my personal favorite, Heifer International.

This Christmas (if you celebrate Christmas) consider gifting a donation to an appropriate charity instead of the ubiquitous Chia Pet.

How about if I give Chia Pets to charity?

Heifer International is a great organization.
