Voyeur

I am an old-house junky. I love them. I love living in one (although mine is only 70ish) and I love seeing what other people do with a really old home.
We went on the Ohio City home tour this weekend.
We toured eight homes in various stages of livability, all of which were at least 100 years old. Among them, a couple of "painted ladies" and an 'in-progress' conversion of the West Side Young Men's Christian Association --come to stay at the YMCA!-- into condos that preserve much of the original coffered ceilings, carved pilasters and inlaid dados. Also on the tour this year was a converted funeral parlor which, we were told, still had the embalming tables in the basement. Yuck.
Some people, when they hear about the home tour, are fascinated, while some are mystified that I would want to tramp through strangers' homes.
Hey, I'm an architectural/decorating voyeur.
