The Fairies really own the house
Or so the children say,
In fact, they all of them moved in
Upon the self-same day.
There’s such a Faerie feeling
When you step inside the door,
And every time you come back home
You love it more and more.
For even on the stairs you hear
The whispering of wings,
And lilting song and laughter gay,
And other lovely things.
The winds are all about the House,
The sea is very near;
And in the silence of the Dawn
The little waves you hear.
And when it’s time to say Goodbye
You nearly always find….
A tiny corner of your heart
You’ve somehow left behind.
The Fairy Folk have charmed it, for
They want to make it plain,
They hold it as a Faerie Pledge
Till you come home again.
