A break from elections

I know. I know. They don't stop, do they. The primaries and caucuses. Wake me when it's over. Sometimes I wonder if we wouldn't be better off as some of Europe's and the so-called third world's politics where there are so many political parties that candidates are required to build coalitions. They are essentially forced to incorporate other views and visions. As opposed to the winner-take-all carnival we endure. Who knows.

But thoughts of the "third-world" (I hate that term.) pushed me to our "break" today. In the form of a geography lesson. Stop groaning. We're going to Ecuador. Virtually. And climbing Chimborazo. Mount Chimborazo is the tallest mountain in Ecuador at over 20,500 feet. It is also (and this is a point of great pride to Ecuadorians) the tallest mountain in the world if you measure from the center of the Earth. (The Earth bulges at the equator enough to push the peek past even Everest and K2. No mean feat.) And it's gorgeous and extinct (so not that scary). Unlike Cotopaxi or Pichincha which rumble somewhat regularly.

book: Bowled Over by Kasey Michaels. A fun twist on Regency romances. Nicely pokes fun at itself.
