Another birthday today, but one that is infinitely more important to posterity than Shakespeare's no matter how well-written his plays and sonnets.
Today the Library of Congress turns 208 years old.
Despite its age and its origins (and the fact that it was completely destroyed in 1814 by the British during the War of 1812), the library is very much a hip and cool place to visit. (Hip and cool being an ancient term for bitchin' or phat or whatever the kids say nowadays.)
If nothing else, it proves the Congress can appropriate funds for something good.
