Punkinhead is nearing the end of the school year. She has this week of classes and then finals week (which, due to the fact that she passed all her Ohio Graduation Tests two years early, she is exempted from taking) so in order to not turn the last week of classes into a blow-off, I have instructed her to "learn something new today."
When I see her later tonight, I'll find out what she learned, but for us, we're learning about Thomas Harriot. Harriot was a 16th century polymath who, among other things, was the first European to learn the Algonquian language. He was a valuable part of the "lost settlement" on Roanoke Island. He is one of the first Englishmen to be known in mathematics and astronomy.
So now you've learned something new today also.
