I returned eight books to the library last night in our weekly library excursion, seven of which I'd completed. Of those eight, I'm choosing the best and offering it up as a recommendation of sorts. (I'll try to do this weekly.)
Granted that, from the crap that I typically read, the "best" is hardly a superlative, so take it with a grain of salt.
This week's top pick: The River King by Alice Hoffman. The imagery is glorious, the story compelling. I had a bit of trouble caring about the characters, but that's probably just me.
