Operator

Remember the game Telephone? Where a big group of you sits in a line and whispers a sentence, one to another down the line. Invariably the sentence was hugely distorted by the end. One sentence turns from "I've got red shoes" to "I'm not a dead goose."
How amazing is it that 3000 years ago a guy named Homer wrote down what essentially was an immense telephone game? And based on what archaeologists and astronomers have found, it seems he got a bit of it right.
