Gardening notes

The last week of June and first week of July are quite disappointing in my garden. The delphinium and asiatic lilies are spent; the coneflowers and oriental lilies haven't come into their own as yet; the roses are past their first flush and bloom only intermittently. I have a small clump of daisies and some coreopsis that are the only relief from unremitting green right now.
