"Husband and wife Francisco and Casilda Figueiredo are among the last exponents of a traditional Portuguese handicraft -- making ornamental ceramic penises."
Before I even touch on the idea that ceramic penis-making is a tradition, let me say that, while I'm fond of penises in general, and have specifically known some very nice ones, I'm not sure I'd ever consider them ornamental.
That said, the tradition of ornamental ceramic penis making seems to go back over 100 years. Someone (many someones) have been purchasing ornamental penises since the late 1800s according to this story. I suppose if the old one passed down from Great Aunt Mabel breaks, you can still get a replacement thanks to the dedication of the Fugueiredos who have kept the tradition alive. Or at least kept it from getting flacid.
