I read six books this week. They were all mediocre. (Not that mediocre is necessarily a bad thing. I consider myself a stunning example of mediocrity.)
Anyway, the best of the lot was Ellen Crosby's The Bordeaux Betrayal. It was a decent mystery, but with good bits about wine making and some early American history tossed in. Lucie Montgomery manages to solve the mystery while telling the reader a few wine-y facts about our Founding Fathers.

I knew you were stunning.
Ever read The Pledge, by Friedrich Dürrenmatt?
I'll look for it. And watch the compliments or you'll turn my head.
I'll second GIMC's recommendation of "The Pledge." Which, come to think of it, he lent to me about 15 years ago.
