Friday Book Blogging

This week I read five books. I would love to pretend to over-educated pretentiousness, and select Gore Vidal's Myra Breckinridge as my favorite, but it was too full of allusions to movies and movie stars of whom I'd never heard. Its bitter cynicism was a little strong as well. And I'm a fluff kinda gal.
As such, my pick of the week is the new Molly Murphy mystery by Rhys Bowen called In a Gilded Cage. In 1903 New York City, no one has more pluck than Molly Murphy. Bowen manages to introduce the changing mores of the era and the dawning of the women's movement in this tidy mystery. I like all of Ms. Bowen's series, so I was surprised to see that I'd not reviewed her here previously. Any of her books are worth a look: constable Evan Evans of Wales, Her Royal Spyness in London, or Molly Murphy's Irish New York.
