Another small haul this week: five books complete and the winner is P.D. James' The Private Patient. Adam Dalgliesh is one of the finest English detectives invented, but for some reason, I'll go months or years before picking up another of his stories only to find myself hooked again.
In this latest mystery, a woman is killed while recovering from plastic surgery at a private clinic. Ms. James shows such remarkable faculty with all aspects of the plot and characters that at times it seems as if you are reading a true crime history and not a completely made-up tale.
Now that I've reacquainted myself, I've borrowed two more.
