This week I returned six books. My favorite was Jo Bannister's Echoes of Lies. This little mystery features a woman named Brodie Farrell who is unwittingly drawn into a kidnapping.
She assuages the guilt she feels for her involvement by assisting one of the victims and eventually, the two of them unravel the scheme. Not only is the story well-plotted, but the characters, even the minor ones, are cleverly and compassionately drawn.
