In memoriam

Today is the day we honor the men and women who went off to kill other people in faraway lands for America, but died in the attempt.
As a pacifist, I admire their devotion however misplaced I believe it to be --because no matter how you parse it, the kids going into the military today are voluntarily offering to shoot others. I cannot admire their actions. If no one volunteered to fight, this war would be over already.
So, while it may be hypocritical, I will be mentally honoring the poor soldiers who fought and died in wars they were forced into: Vietnam, Korea, WWII, etc.
