I seem to be stuck in a six-books-per-week rut. At any rate, the winner this week (only slightly edging out The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie by Alan Bradley) was Shannon Hale's Austenland.
Austenland is total chick-lit. I don't know a single guy who will like this so I'll redirect you men to second place noted above. But for all of us gals who have drooled over Colin Firth as the brooding enigmatic Darcy in the BBC "Pride and Prejudice" miniseries, this is your book!
Jane Hayes takes a fantasy vacation to Pemberly Park complete with Regency costumes and manners in order to flush her unhealthy obsession with the search for the perfect Colin-Darcy boyfriend. Now that she's finally being honest with herself about men, she discovers that the men are paid to be complete fabrications. Between the romps, the rides, the picnics and the games of whist, Jane might just get over Mr. Darcy.
Pure fluff and fun.
