By now, if you're like me and have spent the weekend consuming endless pics and video of the horrific earthquake and tsunami in Japan, you may be kinda numb to the whole thing. Remember in all the videos with all those cars being swept away? Many of them had people in them. The amount of devastation is staggering. The
NYTimes has

interactive before-and-after satellite images. Hundreds of houses are washed away. A family lived in each one.
Overwhelming destruction. And sitting here in my comfortable house, with electricity and heat and clean water, and food, and all my family safe, I am humbled and thankful, but also grieving and impotent.
