I don't keep a gardening journal like many hard-core gardeners do, so I can't verify this, but this year seems to be a crazy-slow start to spring.
I can remember Marches in the past that our pieris japonica was blooming, and we have flowers on it just now this year.
The magnolias which, this far north, have always been in danger of shrivelling and browning in a late frost are only recently beginning to bloom.
But maybe I'm imagining it and my impatience is getting the better of me. At any rate, the front garden bed is raked, and the next dry day is to be devoted to the back yard.
If only it could be done in a day!
