Friday Book Blogging

I'm gonna do things a bit differently this week. I read three trash novels (one of which was borderline porn --I enjoyed it a lot, but it doesn't deserve a tip here.) and one promising-sounding non-fiction about Teddy Roosevelt and the NYC heat wave of 1896. The non-fiction was horrifically dull and pedantic.
The fifth book I read was Susan Vreeland's Clara and Mr. Tiffany which is a fictionalized account of the woman who is now credited with creating the famous "tiffany lamp." It was an enjoyable book, but going off the page for this week, I'll recommend a previous book by the same author, Luncheon of the Boating Party, which is about Auguste Renoir and the painting that gives its name to the book. Technically I didn't read it this week, but the Susan Vreeland novel I did read did not impress me as much as Luncheon. I've also read Girl in Hyacinth Blue and The Passion of Artemesia. Both of which I can recommend.
