On the 75th anniversary of its extinction, the Tasmanian Tiger (also known as thylacine) has been exonerated of killing sheep. The government of Tasmania, in a misguided effort to assist the sheep herders, put a bounty on dead thylacines, blaming them for attacks on sheep.
Now studies show that the animal's jaw was so weak it would have been unable to kill a sheep.
This is a case in which the saying "better late than never" does not apply. We will never see a Tasmanian Tiger in person. And they look so cute! Boy do humans have a big footprint.
