A four book week with no clear winner this week. Even though it was a quick and easy read, I'm going to pick The Scrapbook of Frankie Pratt by Caroline Preston. The story itself is relatively one-dimensional and certainly not a thriller of any sort, but the creativity in making the book is remarkable.
Anyone who can take a what appear to be a box full of snippets from the popular culture of the 1920s and with a few type-written blurbs per page create a life has my admiration. This book is a fun read. The predictability of the plot is overshadowed by the glimpse of the past in all the scrapbook details. Nostalgic while veering away from insipid.
