Taste the rainbow

There's quite a bit of flap online about Oreo's gay pride post this past Monday. I'm just now hearing of it because, 1.) I don't "like" Oreos on Facebook, and 2.) I'm old and out-of-touch.
The basic gist of the whole thing is a bunch of indignant 30-somethings are refusing to purchase Oreos because of a rainbow Oreo in support of gay rights.
My initial reaction is to scoff at their stupidity. Then I am tempted to rant at their stupidity. Finally, I grieve for their stupidity.
I think Pride Day is a great thing, but what would be even better is a world in which a special day to validate the rights and very existence of a group of human beings is unnecessary. But when Oreo cookies are slammed for showing support to the LGBT community, I have little hope of that day ever arriving.
