Friday Book Blogging

It's been a whirlwind week in which I only got through three books. One of them, Stephen Colbert's America Again, Re-becoming the greatness we never weren't, I enjoyed because as I read it, I heard the words in Colbert's voice.
But I realize that for many, Stephen Colbert is an acquired taste, so I'm choosing as the winner, Victoria Thompson's gaslight mystery, Murder on Fifth Avenue.
This is the most recent story to feature midwife Sarah Brandt and detective sergeant Frank Malloy from turn-of-the-19th-century New York.
I like these characters and their interplay as well as the insinuation of the social restrictions and morals of the era. In addition, the plot twists and turns enough for any mystery-lover.
