Summertime

Today was one of those days that we would have spent jumping through the sprinkler as kids. Or down in the creek knee-deep in the water trying to catch crayfish. We may have even found a friend's pool or biked to the community one.
It's the kind of day when even the wind is hot and the rumble of thunder late in the day seems promising, but usually fizzles before any relief from fat drops of rain. Once the sun set, we would catch lightning bugs and eat popsicles. We'd sleep with the windows wide open and a fan in the doorway and still be sticky when we woke up the next morning.

Now, I have the windows shut and the A/C on. Don't judge.
