Alternate realities

If you did not already believe that our President's grip on reality is tenuous at best, the following dichotomy should erase all doubt.

  • "When you're risking your life to accomplish a mission, the last thing you want to hear is that mission being questioned in our nation's capital. I want you to know that, while there may be a lot of heated rhetoric in Washington, D.C., one thing is not in dispute: The American people stand behind you." -G.W. Bush speaking to a group of military cadets.

  • In a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll taken Friday through Sunday [November 11-13], more than half of those surveyed wanted to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq within the next 12 months. In the latest poll, 60% of those surveyed said the war wasn't "worth it." Also 54% agreed with the statement that the war was a "mistake."

"[Bush] always tells the truth about what's in his mind, whether or not what's in his mind corresponds to what's in the visible world."
