Tooth and nail
I had the misfortune to lose a filling recently. I had it repaired today and while I'm still numb, I'd like to sing the praises of novocain. As someone who has suffered a genetic predisposition to crappy teeth, I have been to more than my fair share of dentists and been injected with much more than my fair share of novocain. Every time I sit in that chair I think how lucky I am that it is not a 16th century blacksmith leaning over me with dirty tongs and a cup of brandy to dull the pain.
