New 'Smell Recorder' invented!
This Japanese guy is extolling the virtues of his new invention that records smells and plays them back later --for your enjoyment. As cool as this sounds (sending your loved one a bouquet-of-roses smell), can't you just see this being used for other less salubrious purposes? Your hubby pisses you off and you record a nice stinky fart for the guy. Your boss is being mean and you leave him an annonymous pile of manure smell. Well --I'm sure there are many more. You are probably way more twisted than I am.

The possibilities are endless, though I shudder to think some of the things people would record. Doesn't this somewhat take away the surprise enjoyment of scent-triggered memory, though? I love the advancement of technology, but some things are better left alone . . . even if funny and a nice gag gift. :)
This reminds me of the device Maude has in the movie "Harold and Maude." It has several canisters that recreate a variety of smells (snow, cigarette smoke, etc.).
But surely you've seen the film.
