Courtesy of The Velvet Blog I learned, last month, about sunk costs. It seems a particularly appropos time to revisit this topic, since our costs in Iraq, as outrageously high as they are already, are about to increase.
As one who was against this war before it even began, in addition to being someone who has no problem leaving food on her plate at a decent restaurant provided I'm satisfied, the idea of spending more in money and --more importantly-- lives strikes me as beyond stupid.
When you're full, you stop eating. When you've uselessly killed 3000 American soldiers and you KNOW that another 20,00 are not going to make a difference in the long run, you back out. Yes, 3000 is too many for the measley results we achieved (the circus-like execution of Saddam Hussein), but it's done. In the past. No reason to keep throwing good men after bad results.
