A page-turner, doesn't have to be literary. In fact many page-turners are decidedly low-brow. And let's face it, no one ever accused Faulkner of keeping them up at night because they "just couldn't put the book down". Although I did fly through Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath, most 'literature' is decidedly dull. O'Hara's Appointment in Samarra took me nearly 5 days to read (and that is A LOT for me).
Last night I was up late reading what was, for me, a page turner. It hurt to finally put it down and turn off the light at 2:30 am. And it's distracting here at work to not be able to pick it up and read. Tonight, when I finish it, I will be just as disappointed, but because it'll be over.
I should never have picked it up last night at 11:00 pm and started it. Let that be a lesson to you all: Never begin any book after your bedtime.
