At the most incredible dinner I've ever had (and most likely ever will have) we met the sommelier who had done the wine pairings. He was wearing that silver cup-thingy that really pretentious wine people wear like a medal. And I had to know what exactly it is called. Since I couldn't ask him without thoroughly embarrassing myself and family, I dug online.
Tastevin in case you're wondering. Pronounced through your nose as Taht-vahN. Ooooo, I'm so cosmopolitan now.

The word was actually coined by an old Jewish man. A sommelier asked him what wine he wanted to use during a Seder and he pointed and said, "Taht vahn."
