Due to the overwhelming amount of yard work this past holiday weekend, I only read five books this week. The best of them was Big Chief Elizabeth by Giles Milton. (You may remember a previous post of mine about his novel.) Big Chief Elizabeth is about England's colonizing of America. Don't be frightened off because it's non-fiction. The characters come to life in the pages, and while there are suppositions, generalizations and omissions, the facts are there and the story is engrossing.
