Who let the dogs out?

Much is being made of Barack Obama's promise to his daughters that they get a puppy upon their move to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. (It may, in fact, be the only campaign promise he is able to keep based on the current state of affairs.) Peru has offered a Peruvian Hairless as a hypo-allergenic gift. The Obamas have declared a preference for a pound "mutt."

I kinda like the idea of a First Poodle, but if they'd like a terrier-mix pound mutt, I might be able to accommodate them.
