I did not see the Oscars last night. Indeed, even if I had wanted to, I could not have since our TV's did not make the digital switch that everyone jumped on last week despite the call for a reprieve.
In reading CNN's interview with host Jackman, I have to admit to a bit of skepticism as to the entertainment value of the production. He has promised the cast of High School Musical. If that's not enough to turn your stomach, the 'moving tribute' to overrated Heath Ledger might do the trick.
I'm curious as to how "scaled-back" Hollywood made the event in a nod to the tough times. Did it seem scaled-back?

Scaled back? No. The "scaling back" amounted to a gag in the opening number, with faux-homemade props.
Overall, I thought it was OK -- not that I watched it to the end. Jackman made a good host.
