Friday Book Blogging

Another five book week this week, but we also have a clear winner: Michael Chabon's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Josef Kavalier and Sammy Clay are cousins who manage to cash in (in their own modest way) on the comic book craze of the late 30s.
I have no interest at all in comic books. I never have. I have less in common with the title characters than I do with our current president. Yet, despite the gulf of differences, Chabon crafted characters with depth and humanity that created a commonality.
The Escapist in Kavalier and Clay's adventures may free us from tyranny, but he binds us to each other, and we learn that we are all escape artists of a sort.

Glad you liked it--great book. (Did I recommend it? I meant to, so even if I didn't, it still counts.)
