Friday Book Blogging
Seven books this week and my favorite was Cezanne's Quarry by Barbara Corrado Pope which intertwines the artist with a fictional murder in Aix. The concept seemed to come from the violence of some of Cezanne's works. Pope manages to write what, in essence, is a police procedural while instilling it with the sensiblity of mid-nineteenth century France. The harsh landscape compliments the strong emotional presence of the main characters, all of whom manage to dominate the story without overwhelming.
