Right down the middle

18 months ago, we were hopeful and excited as the first day of the Obama administration began. I know current polls are showing his "popularity" dipping and he has displeased many people, not the least of which are the loonies on the far right screaming "commie" (among other things). But he's also disappointed a lot of people on the far left for being exactly what he claimed to be all along. A boring political centrist. I have no doubt (nor do I imagine I ever will) that he is a far better president than his opponent would have been, but I do wish he were a tad more radical.
I'm waiting for Guantanamo to close. The Patriot Act to expire. Don't Ask Don't Tell to be abolished. The wars to end. I will give a tip of my hat to the Supreme Court nominations. And to the health care and banking reform (both of which are much too watered-down but better than nothing).
Alas, when you let everyone vote, and money talks louder than even the wisest voice, we get the president we deserve. Ho hum.

Frankly, we can seem to find a President that has any balls to do the things that need to be done. What we have seen is the demise of the position POTUS and creation of a Corporate Figurehead.
