Friday Book Blogging

The other day, a friend said, "I know you'll know this. What was the name of the guy in Catch-22 who...?" After which I had to embarrassingly admit that I haven't read Catch-22 since the Cliffs Notes in high school. Therefore, I picked up that old, nearly-untouched high school paperback, thus securing Joseph Heller a spot as my top book of the week.
I imagine the phrase "darkly comic" has been used nearly infinitely to describe this perfectly pitched WWII novel that makes its needle-like points with the precision of a sharpshooter, but if that phrase is overused, it's only because it so genuinely matches the material. You have to be crazy not to like this book but only crazy people can truly appreciate it.

Now read the one about King David, that's my favorite! "God Knows" I think you could appreciate it. Very Gritty and real.
