Reunited

In high school, I played in the marching band, was active on the newspaper and yearbook, stage crew for theater, and a couple of Christian groups, but I did not attend a single party in four years that involved alcohol. Not one. Partly because as an active member of the above groups, I was so NOT COOL enough to garner an invitation, and partly because I had no interest in pursuing an invitation.
Because I was decidedly NOT COOL, I do not remember high school fondly.
Therefore, it came as something of a surprise to really enjoy myself at the class reunion I attended this past weekend. I know all the platitudes about growing up and maturing and blahblahblah, but until you see it happen where one of the coolest girls in your graduating class is all "Omigodyoulookfantastic!" to YOU, it just doesn't seem possible.
And here's the thing, even if they were all being totally fake and can't even remember who I was, it was still nice for the evening to live in a place where someone is handing you glasses of wine and telling you that you haven't aged a bit since graduation.
Plus there were cupcakes.

Maybe I'll attend one someday, as a founding member of the NOT COOL club, I've never attended a single reunion. But 30 is looming for me.
