Bon Appétit!

Happy birthday to the American woman who became known as the French Chef. 100 years ago today, Julia McWilliams Child was born and after tasting buttered sole at a restaurant in Rouen began her culinary pursuits. Her groundbreaking book Mastering the Art of French Cooking and her groundbreaking television show The French Chef are the benchmark for all cookbooks and cooking shows.
And she was decorated by the OSS (precursor to the CIA) for merit and her "drive and inherent cheerfulness." How many TV chefs can say that?
