It was another late night last night as I got caught up in finishing what will definitely be the book of the week tomorrow. And leisurely referencing portions of the real-life characters and events around which the story revolved.
It's not every book I read that prompts a trip to wikipedia, but more often than not when I read historical fiction, I at the very least, try to look at a map.
Last night I learned that from 1912 to 1927 Morocco suffered frequent uprisings against
Spanish and French governors. "The most serious of these was a Berber uprising in the
Rif Mountains, led by Abd el-Krim." One of the Spaniards fighting was future-dictator-to-be, Francisco Franco.
