Dey-twah

I'm off to Detroit, Michigan, today so you get to join me.

Detroit was named after the Detroit River, which is actually the French word for "strait," (le détroit du Lac Érié) but was co-opted by the English who won the fort there (Fort Pontchartrain) in 1760.
There on the north bank of the strait that connects Lake Erie to Lake Huron, in 1701, fifty-two French-Canadians, founded a settlement.
Little did they know that their leader would one day be commemorated by General Motors, one of the "big three" auto makers that call Detroit home. Not only did GM like Monsieur Cadillac, but Chief Pontiac's consolation prize for all those Native American lands, is also automotive immortality.
Aside from being the Motor City, Detroit is an important source of popular music legacies known to us as Motown.
One of the most popular aspects of the city, at least among retirees within a few hours' drive, is the city's Greektown and three downtown casino resort hotels which serve as part of an entertainment hub. Despite Vegas' notoriety, Detroit is the largest city in the United States to offer casino resort hotels.
But it's not all fast cars and debauchery; Detroit also boasts the Eastern Market farmer's distribution center, the largest open-air flowerbed market in the United States which has more than 150 foods and specialty businesses.. On Saturdays, about 45,000 people shop the city's historic Eastern Market.
But perhaps what is most endearing to us Clevelanders is that usually, their sports teams suck as hard as ours do. And misery loves company

Holy crap! Pistons won 3 titles in my lifetime. Tigers won the World Series in '84. I would kill, KILL for that kind of success.
