Ice and presidents

My failure to have a post up first thing this morning is due, in part to the fact that it was a day off for me. The thinking being, that I would have leisure time this morning to compose something adequately Presidential for the day or in lieu of that, find a cute pic of a pet terrier in an Abe Lincoln hat. Then the ice storm came. We lost power at three a.m. and did not get it back on until 3:30 p.m. Not to mention the VERY large tree limbs (only one of which hit the house with no significant damage, thankfully) and high winds and dropping temperatures. I was very thankful that I had scheduled a day off. At the same time, the lack of electricity seriously impaired my ability to post my daily musing. In fact the lack of electricity (and subsequent lack of HEAT) impaired my ability to do anything but curl up in a ball with two blankets and sip hot coffee (thank god for gas stoves)!

All of this serves to remind me how very much I respect and am in awe of the people who lived their entire lives without electricity or central heat. Especially in the Midwest.

Oh, and Happy Prrrrrrrrresident's Day!
