What is it about summertime and the propensity for every quaint shopping center and town square to break out the white tents and have a craft show? Sometimes the crafts featured are horrendous crocheted puppies and appliqued hand towels. Sometimes they are surprisingly creative. Sometimes they are even artful. (Usually the hand towels and the art are mutually exclusive.)
Many times the permanent shops that line the street benefit from the increase in foot traffic. Even better when, because of this, you discover a gem.
Saturday, we went to a small "art walk" nearby and quite by accident discovered an amazing shop full of gourmet oils and balsamic vinegars. They have little samovars full of olive oils on one side of their little shop and balsamic vinegars on the other. They also sell other varieties of gourmet oils and olive products in addition to accoutrements. The samovars allow for taste testing, and believe me when I tell you, you could get lost in trying everything in there singly and in combination. They carry 29 varieties of vinegar and 31 of oil.
Shops like this one and some of it's neighbors make it a pleasure to buy locally.
