A Facebook friend of mine is posting an ornament-a-day countdown to Christmas. She snaps a pic of the ornament and gives us a brief history. Most of the ornaments she posts are kinda corny and the little story is always sentimental. (Some people are like that at this time of year.)
We have some older ornaments on our tree. One that LSH made when he was about 7 years old (longer ago than he cares to contemplate). There are a few that he brought to the marriage 20 years ago. (I provided only the stuffed Jacques and Gus that I got from a Happy Meal when I worked at McDonald's as a teenager.) There are the 20+ that technically belong to Punkinhead (almost all the "baby's first" and then 19 more Christmases of selecting an ornament. These will eventually go with her when she sets up her own tree.
Most of the tree, however, consists of relatively generic stuff. I like all of it, but there isn't much in the way of sentimentality. Certainly not 25 days' worth! I will admit, though, that with just the few exceptions cited above that pre-date our tree, the oldest thing on it is the tinsel. We have strands of silver icicle tinsel that are the same age as the Punkinhead.
