I always thought that I had a bit of a belly because I eat too much and don't do sit-ups. But according to Anthropologist Elizabeth Cashdan, it just means that I'm able to handle stress better.
Now, when I mentioned this study to men I know, without exception they all immediately posited that the study was conducted by a "fat woman." Apparently, not only does testosterone add pounds to the waist, but in large quantities it causes prejudice.

Sorry, Lass...
Nice try - you get full marks for effort.
But that study WAS conducted by several fat women and or a couple of chaps who enjoy the company of fat women.
If you have a belly, it is yours. If you don't like it, get rid of it. If other people don't like it, either ignore them, or be influenced and get rid of it.
It is there because you have chosen to have it there - either because of your desire to avoid "sit-ups" or your desire to "have a belly."
The fact that you are seeking some sort of justification for your belly, is a sign that you don't like it, but are too lazy to change it.
I suggest that you either enjoy it or get rid of it. But the "study" you mentioned smacks of being flawed and desirous of feeding the fancy of laziness that is overwhelming society today.
I spell "gym" B-A-R. But I have other interests that keep my belly from becoming something I am unhappy about.
That concept seems stupid to me. I am definitely prejudiced against stupidity.
Also-Testosterone is a very important element in the handling of stress.
I need my belly to hold up my enormous breasts. ;)
Case closed.
Enormous Breasts rule the world and win EVERY ARGUMENT.
I also feel that enormous breasts are the MOST important element in stress relief.
